Vietnam sees Chile as leading Latin-American partner: Deputy PM

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam considers Chile one of its most importantpartners in the Latin America region, said Deputy Prime Minister and ForeignMinister Pham Binh Minh at a meeting with Chilean Foreign Minister RobertoAmpuero Espinoza on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on ASEAN in Hanoion September 12.

Minh noted with pleasure the strong growth in the Vietnam-Chilecomprehensive partnership over recent years, shown through the outcomes ofhigh-level visits of the two countries’ leaders, including the recent visit toChile by Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue in July.

For his part, the Chilean FM congratulated Vietnam for its successfullyhosting of the WEF ASEAN 2018.

He affirmed that Chile wants to boost relations with Vietnam, as well asASEAN member countries in general. He suggested that the two sides reinforceand promote progress in trade cooperation, while expanding investmentcollaboration between the two countries.

The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of high-level delegations;bolster economic, trade, and investment ties; while supporting small- andmedium-sized enterprises in accessing each other’s market; and enhancing people-to-peopleexchanges.

They pledged to cooperate closely at multilateral forums, especially theAsia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, and in the process of approvingand implementing the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-PacificPartnership (CPTPP).–VNA
