Vietnam, Russia strengthen relations with promising future prospects

The upcoming State-visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Vietnam on June 19-20 sends a strong message of mutual respect between the two countries, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi.

Hanoi (VNA)🐼 - The upcoming State-visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Vietnam on June 19-20 sends a strong message of mutual respect between the two countries, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi.

The diplomat said the visit is crucial in further deepening the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in all areas, especially in the context that the two countries are striving to realise the Joint Statement on 2030 Vision for Development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Within the framework of the visit, the two countries’ leaders will discuss orientations for the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to 2030. They will also clarify key areas of cooperation from economics, trade, defense and security, energy, science-technology to education, culture and people-to-people diplomacy. In addition, the visit will also pave the way for the two sides to sign and implement a number of new cooperation agreements to promote bilateral relations. These agreements not only bring economic benefits but also strengthen the political ties between the two countries.

In light of the complex global developments, strengthening cooperation between Vietnam and Russia has become more crucial than ever. President Putin’s visit to Vietnam also sends a strong message of mutual respect between the two countries. This is a clear manifestation of friendship and solidarity. The visit contributes to enhancing the position of both countries in the international arena, for the common interests of their peoples, as well as for peace and stability in the region and beyond. “I believe that this visit by President Putin will be an important milestone, marking a robust and sustainable development of the special relationship between Vietnam and Russia, opening up more opportunities for stronger cooperation in the future, towards a bright future based on loyal friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era.”

2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Fundamental Principles of Friendly Relations between Viet Nam and Russia and the 20th♚ anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral strategic partnership. The Ambassador highlighted some notable points in the bilateral relations over the past time.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on January 30, 1950, the relationship between Vietnam and the Soviet Union in the past or Russia today have been consolidated and thrived in all areas. “Looking back over the past 30 years, we can be proud of the achievements as the bilateral relationship has developed comprehensively. Vietnam and Russia have gradually upgraded their bilateral relations to strategic partnership, then comprehensive strategic partnership.” Political relations are marked by a high level of trust, facilitated through regular delegation exchanges at all levels, especially high-level visits. This has enabled the two countries’ leaders to share information and guide the development of bilateral relations effectively.
Bilateral cooperation in such areas as science and technology, culture, education, tourism, and locality-to-locality cooperation has been increasingly expanded. Cooperation in science and technology and education and training between the two countries has been promoted and upgraded to a strategic level./.
