Vietnam professor becomes academician at French medicine academy

Paris (VNA) – Prof. Dr. Pham Van Thuc, Rector of theHai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, has become the first Vietnamesepeople to receive the “academician” title at the French National Academy ofMedicine.

He and 24 other people were bestowed with thetitle at a ceremony held at the academy’s headquarters in Paris on December 20.

The French National Academy of Medicinecomprises nearly 500 members, including 180 foreigners who are prestigiousscientists in the world.

Thuc is also a member of many prestigious scienceassociations and has been presented with the Honorary Professor title by manyuniversities around the globe.

He was nominated as an academician of the Frenchacademy in 2015 and elected to this post in March 29 this year.

Meanwhile, his school – Hai Phong University ofMedicine and Pharmacy – has obtained outstanding achievements in training andresearch of medicine and pharmacy, becoming one of the leading educationalestablishments in Vietnam.

It has joined in lecturer and researcherexchange programmes with more than 60 medical training and researchestablishments around the globe. The university is also a member of many famousscience associations in the world.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
