Vietnam participates in charity fair in Japan

The Women’s Association of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan attended the 43rd charity fair of the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) in Tokyo, Japan, on April 10.

Tokyo (VNA) – TheWomen’s Association of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan attended the 43rdcharity fair of the Asia-Pacific LadiesFriendship Society (ALFS) in Tokyo, Japan, on April 10.

The event is oneof the ALFS’ biggest annual activities, aiming to raise funds in support ofwomen and children in ALFS member countries.

The spouse of Japanese ForeignMinister Taro Kono and other wives of high-ranking Japanese officials also attendedthe event.

On the occasion, participantsdisplayed handicrafts and traditional cuisines of their countries.

The Vietnamese Embassy introducedVietnamese silk, lacquer, and embroidery artworks as well as traditional cuisineto visitors.

In 2018, the ALFS allocatednearly 1.3 million JPY (about 11,700 USD) to the Vietnamese Embassy to buildwater purification systems for the central provinceof Ha Tinh and to support children living in disadvantaged areas of Vietnam.

This year’s proceeds willcontinue to be used for the installation of water purification systems inelementary schools in three districts of the central province of Quang Nam.

The ALFS now has nearly 400members, mostly made up of female ambassadors and staff of the 25 embassies ofAsian-Pacific nations in Tokyo, as well as spouses of politicians and businessleaders.–VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
