Vietnam movie day promises to be eventful

The Vietnam Movie Day 2015 in HCM City will be an eventful event with a wide range of activities, according to Nguyen Thi Hong Ngat, Deputy Head of the Vietnam Cinematography Association.

Ngat told a news conference in HCM City on March 2 that theassociation’s Kite Award 2014 will be held on this occasion to honouroutstanding movies in 2014.

She said that by now137 film entries and 3 criticism and theory research studies haveregistered to compete for the country’s prestigious annualcinematography prizes.

The entries are ofdifferent genres from movies, TV series, cartoons, to documentaries,scientific films, and short films.

Movie fansalso have chances to watch many entry movies free of charges such as QuaTim Mau (Vengeful Heart), Nhung dua tre cua lang (The Village’s Children),De Mai Tinh 2 (Fool for Love 2), Chang trai nam ay (The Long Gone Boy),and Song Cung Lich Su (Living with History) at the BHD Pham Hung MovieTheater, CGV Thao Dien and the Tan Son Nhat Culture Centre from March5-8.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place at 8pm on March 12 at the Queen Hall Convention Centre in District 4.

Other activities on the occasion include a trip to the filming siteof the old Southern Cinematography Department in Moc Hoa district, LongAn for artists and association members, film screenings and meetings ofartists and fans.

The association will also honour two People’s Artists: Director Ngo Manh Lan and Actor Nguyen The Anh.-VNA
