Vietnam, Laos promote trade relations

Vietnam and Laos agreed to speed up the implementation of their 2008-2015 trade development project in an effort to raise two-way trade to 1 billion USD this year and 2 billion USD in 2015.

The consensus was reached during talks between Deputy Minister ofTrade and Industry Nguyen Thanh Bien and his Lao counterpart, KhemmaniPholssena, in Vientiane on June 7.

The twosides also agreed that commodities originated from both countries willenjoy the same preferential import-export taxes for 2011 as in 2010.

Thetwo countries will coordinate in organising joint trade fairs inseveral northern and southern provinces in Laos and studying thepossibility of signing a free trade area (FTA) agreement.

They will work together to research into plans for aVietnam-Laos border market network and the building of the Tay Trang-SopHun and Bo Y-Phu Cua border trade areas.

The twosides pledged to continue cooperation in training and informationexchange as well as coordinating mechanisms between their ministries andagencies in order to further the bilateral trade relations.

The Vietnamese delegation visited Laos from June 3-7 atthe invitation of the Lao Ministry of Industry and Trade./.

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
