Vientiane (VNA)𓃲 – The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) and the Lao National Institute for Social Sciences (NISS) have agreed to conduct joint research and exchange scientific documents in various fields.

The agreement was reached by VASS President Nguyen Quang Thuan and NISS President Soukkongseng Sayaleuth during their talks in Vientiane on June 22.
They also talked about preparations for the annual social science workshop of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia as well as a green growth workshop between the three countries and the Republic of Korea (RoK) in October in Vientiane. The NISS President took this occasion to thank the Vietnamese Party, Government and people, particularly the VASS, for their valuable assistance.
He expressed his hope to receive more regular and effective collaboration from Vietnam in scientific research, training and facilities building. The two sides agreed to organise a scientific workshop in 2017 to mark 55 years of establishing Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and 40 years of signing the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation. They will submit their bilateral cooperation agenda to their respective governments to ask for them to be incorporated into the Vietnam-Laos cooperation plan in 2016-2020.-VNA
