Vietnam, Laos bolster quality, efficiency of education cooperation

Vientiane (VNA) –𝐆 The Governments of Vietnamand Laos are expanding cooperation in education, human resources development andvocational training this year, reported Vientiane Times newspaper on February17.

The Vietnamese Government has granted 1,100 scholarships toLao officials and students and its Lao counterpart provided 60 toVietnamese ones for short-term training and bachelor’s andmaster’s programmes at the country’s universities. The Lao Ministry of Education and Sport said that thecountries are to improve cooperation quality and efficiency in education andpersonnel development for the 2021-30. This year, the sides will prioritise investment in devicesfor sport institutes and upgrade ethnic boarding schools in Sekong andChampasak in southern Laos. The countries are working to improve the quality control systemin education of the Lao ministry in the 2021-30 period and promotevocational training at all levels. They will convene meetings to review the 10 years of theVietnam-Laos educational cooperation, sign a protocol in the field and human resources development between the two Governments for 2022-27./.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
