Vietnam intensifies ties with Germany’s Lower Saxony state

Berlin (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh paid aworking visit to Hannover city, Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) state on March 15-16.

In meetings with local officials, Minh reviewed the situation and prospectsof the Vietnam-Germany relations, affirming that the bilateral StrategicPartnership has been strongly promoted in various fields.

He thanked the state’s administration for creatingfavourable conditions for the 10,000-strong Vietnamese communityliving and working in the state so that they can contribute actively to socio-economicdevelopment in the host country, as well as the two nations’ friendship.

Stephan Weil, Minister-President of Lower Saxony, expressed his impression at the dynamicdevelopment of Vietnam in recent decades, saying that Vietnam, with its geostrategicposition and strong economic growth, has become an attractive destination inthe region.

He told the ambassador that he will lead a delegation of thestate’s enterprises to visit Vietnam in October to connect and seek cooperationopportunities.

He agreed with Minh’s idea on the two countries’ cooperationpotential in renewable and green energies, noting that Lower Saxony has strengths in wind energy and wants tocooperate with Vietnam to exploit offshore wind power.

Vice Chair of the Landtag (State Parliament) BarbaraOtte-Kinast stressed that in addition to automobile industry and wind power, LowerSaxony also has great strengths in agriculture and is interested in consumerprotection.

She suggested the state and Vietnam can study and cooperate intechnology transfer and know-how on agricultural machinery, and product qualitycontrol system, adding that the state’s agencies in different fields have plans to organisevisits in the coming time to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam.

Ambassador Minh showed his hope to continue receiving BarbaraOtte-Kinast’s support for tightening friendship between the two governments andpeoples./.
