Eleven units and fifteen individuals who have made outstandingcontributions to the cause of national construction and defence will behonoured at a ceremony in Hanoi on July 13.
Theinformation was announced by a spokesperson of the 10th ‘Vietnam Glory’awards programme in Hanoi on July 3, according to Nhan dan (People)Online.
Under the theme ‘Despite Difficulties’, thisyear’s programme honours outstanding people who have overcomedifficulties and challenges in their lives to make great contributionsto society.
One example is 70 year-old Labour HeroHuynh Van Cang, a war invalid from the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre,who has mobilised hundreds of billion of VND from organisations andindividuals across the country to help poor patients, disabled peopleand disadvantaged children and another is Le Van Duoc, a 9th gradestudent from the central province of Nghe An, who bravely rescued fivechildren from drowning.
First initiated by Lao Dong(Labour) Newspaper in 2003, the ‘Vietnam Glory’ programme has become aspecial cultural and political event to acknowledge and honour Labourheroes in the Renewal process, Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces,businesspeople and role-models in patriotic movements who havecontributed to national construction and defence.
Theevent is held by the Lao Dong Newspaper and Vietnam Television under theguidance of the Central Council for Emulation and Reward and theVietnam General Confederation of Labour.-VNA
