Vietnam Glory honours outstanding individuals, organisations

Thirteen individuals and two organisations were honoured at the 12th Vietnam Glory programme held in Hanoi on July 28 with National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in attendance.

Thirteen individuals and two organisations were honoured at the 12 th Vietnam Glory programme held in Hanoi on July 28 with National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in attendance. Awardees are those who have made achievements in their field, including academics, scientific research, business, social order, national defence, art and sports.
They included 19-year-old swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien who broke eight records and won eight gold medals at the 28 th SEA Games held in Singapore and the IT prodigy Nguyen Duong Kim Hao who has won a number of prizes. Honoured organisations include the Ministry of Public Security's Anti-hi-tech Crimes Police Department and the High Command of Vietnam Coast Guard.
In a letter sent to the organising board, State President Truong Tan Sang expressed his hope that the programme will continue enhancing the effectiveness of patriotism movements through exemplary models. According to Dang Ngoc Tung, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the programme has helped encourage the population to become involved in and work towards national development over the last 70 years.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
