Vietnam girl wins silver medal in Miss Earth swimsuit sub-contest

Hanoi (VNA) - Nguyen Phuong Khanh,Vietnam’s representative at Miss Earth 2018, has won a silver medal in theswimsuit competition.

Khanh had previously won a gold medal for Asia& Oceania region in the national costume round on October 11.

Miss Earth is being held in the Philippines withthe participation of 94 contestants from around the world. In the bikinisub-contest, they competed in three groups called Fire, Air and Water.

Khanh was a member of  the Water Group,which consisted of 28 contestants. The gold and bronze medals went to MissMexico and Miss Bosni and Herzegovina.

Born in the southern province of Ben Tre,23-year-old Khanh was the second runner-up at the Miss Sea Vietnam GlobalBeauty Pageant 2018 held on Phu Quoc Island in April.

Khanh is currently a student at the CurtinUniversity Singapore, majoring in marketing, and will graduate early next year.

She is currently standing in second placeoverall behind Miss Portugal Telma Madeira.

This is the first time a Vietnameserepresentative has entered the top swimsuit round of Miss Earth, said NgocTinh, a representative of the Leading Stars Project, the organisationintroducing and accompanying Khanh at Miss Earth.

In these beauty pageants, the contestants’advantages in the swimsuit and national costume competitions are important,offering them opportunities to enter the final rounds, Tinh added.

“We expected Khánh to achieve something at MissEarth 2018. She has performed very well and made great efforts so far,” hesaid.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
