Hanoi (VNA)ꦛ – The Finnish Information Security Cluster (FISC), the Vietnamese Security Network, the Vietnam Information Security Association and the CMC Corporation on March 7 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in information technology, especially in information security.

The document will focus on business collaboration and technological transfer between the FISC and the CMC Corporation. The two sides will coordinate in building projects on information security and cyberspace safety and security, while regularly sending their leading experts to work in both Finland and Vietnam to address existing problems.
They will also intensify cooperation to help state management agencies increase their capacity of controlling information security and preventing cyber attacks. Earlier, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung had a working session in Hanoi with Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Lenita Toivakka, Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam Timo Kotilainen, who is also FISC Chairman, along with a number of representatives from Finnish companies. Hung affirmed that the signing of the MoU will contribute importantly to furthering the two countries’ relations in the future.
As Vietnam wants to become strong in information technology by 2020, the country is currently giving priority to infrastructure upgrading, human resources improvement and information security. Therefore, the country needs cooperation and support from others, including Finland, he added. The Finnish Minister pledged to encourage her country’s government and enterprises to support Vietnam in implementing priorities in information technology.
In January, Finland’s Turku University also committed to helping the Ho Chi Minh City University of Science build and carry out training programmes for Masters courses in global information management and security.-VNA

Vietnam is actively yet cautiously preparing for the construction of its first nuclear power plant in Ninh Thuan (now the south-central coastal province of Khanh Hoa). The resumption of the programme after years of suspension carries considerable significance for the nation’s development in a new era as it strives to gradually reduce and ultimately phase out coal-fired power to realise the Government’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050.
