Hanoi (VNA) – Representatives of the VietnameseEmbassy in Malaysia attended the April 13 trial of Vietnamese citizen Doan ThiHuong who is one of the suspects in the murder of a citizen of the DemocraticPeople’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), to ensure her legal rights.
The embassy said at the hearing, the court of Sepangdistrict of Malaysia’s Selangor state approved the prosecutor’s proposal to prolongthe trial process to finalise documents, hence the next hearing will be held onMay 30.
The embassy will continue to work closely with the VietnamBar Federation, domestic authorized agencies as well as Malaysian andVietnamese lawyers to ensure a fair and impartial trial for Huong and protecther legal rights.
Doan Thi Huong, 28, is one of the two women suspects inthe murder of the DPRK man named Kim Chol at Kuala Lumpur International Airporton February 13.
On March 1, the two were charged with murder but theydenied and said that they were deceived into taking part in an innocuousprank.-VNA
