The Vietnamese Embassy in Angola has donated 23 tonnes of rice to Namibeprovince -- one of the Angolan localities worst hit by drought.
Therice, valued around 35,000 USD, came from a campaign launched by theembassy and the Vietnamese Association in Angola in late 2013 to assisthouseholds in need of food aid in the country ’s drought-affectedareas.
At the hand-over ceremony, Namibe deputy governor AlcidesCabral thanked Vietnamese people and the Vietnamese community in hiscountry in particular for the assistance, describing it as amanifestation of friendship.
In December 2013, the embassy alsosent 6,000 USD contributed by the Vietnamese people in the Africancountry to support flood victims in central provinces in the homeland,and people and soldiers in the Truong Sa archipelago.-VNA
