Vietnam, Denmark co-host activities to promote children’s literature

A wide range of activities will be held nationwide from November 13-17 as part of the second phase of a Vietnamese-Danish project on fostering literature for children.

A writing-for-children campaign willbe launched for the 2012-2013 period will be launched on this occasion,while a ceremony will be held to present awards to prize winners of the2011-2012 campaign.

Danish writer Merlin Mann and artist JanKjaer will run a workshop on creating graphic novels for local writersand artists. They will also discuss their series of Taynikma Legendscomics with pupils from the Hanoi Experimental Secondary School.

The Vietnamese-Danish children’s literature project, with itsfirst phase running from 2006-2010, is being jointly implemented by theDanish Writers Association, the Danish Embassy in Vietnam , and theKim Dong Publishing House.

After its success in establishingjunior reader clubs and organising storytelling trains to visit childrenacross the country, enabling them to meet with the writers and artistswhose work they enjoy, the organisers decided to extend the projectuntil 2015.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
