Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam beat Indonesia 3-0 in a GroupB match of the 2017 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U18 Championship held inMyanmar on September 11.
Two of the goals were scored by Van Nam whilethe other was made by Viet Anh.
With this third win, Vietnam’s U18 football teamhas nine points, consolidating its top place in Group B thanks to better goaldifference than Indonesia.
At a match with the hosts Myanmar two dayslater, Vietnam will only need a draw to enter the semi-finals of the regionaltourney.
Earlier, the team had thrashed Brunei 8-1 andthe Philippines 5-0.
At the tournament, U18 Vietnam is in the samegroup with Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines, New Zealand and Myanmar.-VNA
Vietnam won the title in the women’s football at the 29th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 29) after defeating the hosts Malaysia 6-0 in the last match on August 24.
Vietnamese U22 football player Nguyen Cong Phuong finished as joint top goal scorer of the men’s football tournament with four goals at the ongoing Southeast Asia (SEA) Games 29 in Malaysia.
Nguyen Quang Hai scored his first goal for the national team in Vietnam’s 2-1 win over Cambodia in their third Group C match of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup qualification in Phnom Penh on September 5.
This year’s tournament has gathered over 300 coaches, athletes, and referees from 18 countries and territories, competing in 28 combat weight categories and eight performance categories. Vietnam’s team has 50 athletes, including six from Thai Nguyen province.

The event, part of Vietnam’s cultural diplomacy strategy through 2030, was jointly organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela and USM’s Faculty of International Relations. It attracted thousands of students from universities across Venezuela.
For the first time, Vietnamese audiences will have the opportunity to experience the ballet masterpiece "Don Quixote" in its original version by renowned choreographer Marius Petipa.
