Vietnam, China to foster security cooperation

Beijing (VNA) – Minister of Public Security ToLam had separate meetings with Chinese State Security Minister Chen Wenqing andCommander of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force Wang Ning in Beijing,China on January 13.

The meetings were held in the framework of the ongoing visitof Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China from January12-15.

During the meetings, the two sides noted with joy the growingrelations between the two nations across the fields, including the ties betweenVietnam’s Public Security Ministry and China’s State Security Ministry and thePeople’s Armed Police Force, which have contributed to deepening thetraditional relationship and the comprehensive strategic cooperativepartnership between the two Parties, States and peoples.

Regarding the cooperation between Vietnam’s Public SecurityMinistry and China’s State Security Ministry, the two sides agreed to continueexchanging delegates at all levels and promote the sharing of information oninternational and regional issues of common concern, and on terrorist, transnationaland cyber crimes.

They will work together to ensure security and safety for visitingdelegations of the other country and for important social and political eventsin each country, as well as to protect the rights and legitimate interests of eachother’s expatriates.

The two ministries also pledged to assist each other in professionaltraining, particularly in cyber security, and continue organising strategicsecurity dialogues at deputy-ministerial level.

Meanwhile, Minister To Lam and Commander Wang Ning agreed toconsider the establishment of cooperation mechanism and work towards the early signingof a cooperation agreement between the two agencies with a view to laying alegal foundation for joint activities in law enforcement and the protection of theParties and socialism in each country.

The two sides are set to increase the sharing of informationand experience in terrorism and riot prevention and control, as well as inensuring security for significant political events in each country.

The two sides will strengthen delegation exchanges at alllevels along with mutual assistance in training personnel and organisinganti-terrorism and riot drills.-VNA
