Vietnam-China diplomatic relations celebrated in Hong Kong

The Vietnam Consulate General celebrated the 68th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations in Hong Kong with the participation of Commissioner of China’s Foreign Ministry in Hong Kong Xie Feng, representatives from the Government of Hong Kong, among others.

Hong Kong (VNA) – The Vietnam Consulate General celebratedthe 68th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations in HongKong with the participation of Commissioner of China’s Foreign Ministry in HongKong Xie Feng, representatives from the Government of Hong Kong, among others.

At the celebration on January 18, Vietnamese Consul General in Hong Kong TranThanh Huan reviewed the relationship, expressing his pleasure at theorganization of regular visits and meetings to help spur the healthydevelopment of the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Huan underscored that in many years, China has been the largest tradepartner of Vietnam. Vietnam has also become the biggest trade partner of Chinaamong the ASEAN countries.

In 2017, two-way trade reached 121.3 billion USD, up 23.3 percent yearon year, he noted.

At the same time, the relationship between Vietnam and China’s Hong KongSpecial Administrative Region has also been growing, especially in economy, tradeand investment.

Hong Kong is now the sixth largest trade partner of Vietnam with 1,257projects worth 17.6 billion USD.

Huan also expressed his belief that the ties between Vietnam and Chinawill continue to thrive, benefiting people of both countries and contributingto peace and stability in the region.

For his part, Xie Feng said that the China-Vietnam comprehensivestrategic cooperative partnership, having overcome ups and downs, has been expanded.In recent years, with joint efforts of both sides, the bilateral ties havegrown practically, bringing interest for the people of both sides, promotingthe prosperity of each country, and contributing to peace, stability in theregion and the world, he said.-VNA
