Lai Chau (VNA) – TheVietnam-China Border Friendship Cultural House was inaugurated in Po To hamlet,Huoi Luong commune, Phong Tho district, the northern province of Lai Chau onSeptember 23.

The house demonstrates the friendship and cooperation between Vietnameseand Chinese defence ministries as well as people of Po To hamlet and Gejiehamlet of China, contributing to solidarity between the two countries, for acommon border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

The inaugural ceremony forms part of the ongoing fourthVietnam-China border defence friendship exchange programme.

Po To and Gejie hamlets established the twin relationship in 2014 in abid to enhance their neighbourliness and support in production and daily life,while joining hands in protecting the common border line.

At a conference held on the same day, the two sides reviewed theircollaboration over the past time and agreed on measures to deepen therelationship in the time ahead.

Gao Hai, head of Gejie, said over the past time, the two hamlets haveregularly organised cultural activities and friendship exchanges, and partneredin environmental protection.

The same day, delegates to the programme witnessed a joint exercise on anti-terrorismbetween border guards of Lai Chau province and China’s Mengzi area. -VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
