Phnom Penh (VNA) -Cambodian and Vietnamese forces have effectively cooperated in fightingorganised, cross-border and cyber crimes, as well as drug and humantrafficking, said Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Receiving Vietnamese Ministerof Public Security Sen. Lieut. Gen. To Lam on January 28, PM Hun Sen said theefforts by the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Cambodian Ministryof Interior (MI) helped protect security and order, and served thesocio-economic development of each side.
Lam is paying a two-dayvisit to Cambodia on January 28 and 29 at the invitation of Deputy PrimeMinister and Minister of Interior of Cambodia Sar Kheng.
Speaking about the cooperationbetween the two ministries, Lam told PM Hun Sen that the PM and Cambodiangovernment should instruct police forces from both countries to continue theircooperation, fulfilling the tasks assigned by the people and leaders.
Lam and Sar Kheng co-chaireda dialogue between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Ministryof Interior, which reviewed the co-operation results in 2017 and set cooperationgoals for 2018.
Both sides agreed thatrelevant forces have closely and effectively worked together to ensure securityand maintain social order in each respective country; and seen improvementin cadres’ training activities as well as high-ranking visit exchanges.
In 2018, they agreed thatcompetent forces from both sides will assist each other to further promotesecurity and social order in each country; security in Cambodia’s generalelections to the National Assembly and Senate; safety for top leaders’ visits;and favourable conditions for Vietnamese and Cambodians living and working ineach respective country.
The dialogue ended with thesigning of a cooperation plan for 2018 between Vietnam’s Ministry ofPublic Security and Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior.-VNA
