Hanoi (VNA)🐼 – Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang, and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha co-chaired the conference in Hanoi on February 19 to review the two ministries’ cooperation in 2024 and launch their collaboration plan for 2025.

Reflecting on their cooperation in the past year, the two sides highlighted their regular exchanges of information on international and regional issues of mutual concern. They also emphasized their coordination in ensuring the security and safety of important political events and high-level visits in both countries, as well as the successful organisation of the first annual conference of the Ministers of Public Security and Interior of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam in March 2024 in Da Nang.

🔥 The two sides also worked effectively together on managing and resolving border-related issues, helping to protect the achievements and promote demarcation and marker planting efforts along the Vietnam-Cambodia land border.

As the crime situation along the Vietnam-Cambodia border continues to evolve, particularly with drug trafficking, human trafficking, and online fraud, the two sides proactively proposed programmes and plans for cooperation in combating transnational crime. They strengthened the exchange of information, situation updates, and results on crime prevention via hotlines, while also maintaining and improving the effectiveness of the two countries' Border Liaison Offices (BLOs). Their collaboration on tracking international wanted persons through diplomatic channels, INTERPOL, ASEANAPOL, and border provinces' police also yielded significant results.

Looking ahead to their cooperation in 2025, the two sides agreed to intensify efforts to combat all forms of crime, particularly transnational crimes such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, and cybercrime. They will focus on cracking down on online fraud and online gambling rings while continuing to closely coordinate and support each other in multilateral frameworks aimed at preventing and combating transnational crime.

💧 At the end of the conference, Quang and Sokha signed the 2025 cooperation plan between the two ministries./.
