A delegation of the Ministry of Justice led by Minister Ha Hung Cuong is on a working visit to Australia, with a view to enhancing the legal and judicial cooperation between the two countries.

The visit also aims to realise theMemorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the ministry and theAustralian Attorney-General’s Department in 2012. The document looksto tighten the collaboration between the two countries’ legal andjudicial bodies, expand their mutual assistance related to civil andtrade issues, and legal training.
During the visit, whichconcludes on April 16, the delegation will share its experience inbuilding the penal system in accordance with Vietnam’s implementation ofcommitments to international conventions and agreements, such as the UNConvention against Transnational Organised Crime and the United NationsConvention against Corruption.
On the occasion, thedelegation and the Australian side are expected to ink three cooperationdocuments, including an MoU between the ministry and its counterpart, acooperation agreement between Vietnam’s Academy of Justice and theFaculty of Law of the University of New South Wales, and a consensusbetween the Hanoi University of Law and the Melbourne Law School.
The visit takes place shortly after the two countriessuccessfully organised the Vietnam-Australia Friendship and CooperationYear, marking the new phase of the development of the bilateral ties.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
