Vietnam attends world youth congress in Cuba

The 19th General Assembly of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) kicked off in the Cuban capital city of Havana on November 9.

Havana (VNA) - 𝔉The 19th General Assembly of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) kicked off in the Cuban capital city of Havana on November 9.

The event brings together 130 representatives of 70 organisations from 35 countries across the world.
The Vietnamese delegation is led by Nguyen Dac Vinh, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee. In his opening remarks, WFDY President Nicolas Papademetriou reaffirmed the world progressive youths’ commitments in the struggle against the hegemonic ambitions of the capitalism.
The participants are scheduled to engage in an exchange with representatives of mass organisations from several Cuban localities and an art performance celebrating the 70th founding anniversary of the WFDY, and visit the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp. Established in 1945 and recognised by the UN as an international youth non-governmental organisation, the WFDY gathers many youth organisations and movements worldwide with the aim of promoting peace and solidarity, and accompanying the UN in protecting the rights and obligations of youths. While staying in Cuba, the Vietnamese delegation is due to to meet with leaders of the Cuban Communist Youth Union Central Committee and partake in a number of the union’s activities.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
