Vietnam attends safe school conference in Argentina

Buenos Aires (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Nguyen DinhThao and representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training attendedthe ​second International Conference on Safe School, which took place inBuenos Aires from March 28-29.

Safe school in armed conflicts, war crime investigation and trial, andestablishment of education networks after armed conflicts were on the tableduring the conference, which was jointly held by the United NationsOrganisation for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) and the ArgentineGovernment.

According to UNESCO’s report, schools have been targeted by militant groups in30 countries worldwide, leaving critical impacts on the safety of teachers andstudents.

The conference offered an opportunity for experts to call for the internationalcommunity to pay heed to school safety and share experience in preventingviolence to ensure that all children have the right to receive education in a safeenvironment.

The ​first International Conference on Safe School was held in Oslo,Norway, in 2015.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
