Vietnam attends int’l workshop on socialism in Laos

Vientiane (VNA) – The fifth international workshop on socialism, themed“Applying Marxism-Leninism Doctrine in socialism building”, took place inVientiane, Laos on November 22, attracting more than 100 delegates fromVietnam, China, Cuba and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

In hisopening speech, President of the Lao National Institute for Social SciencesSoukkongseng Sayaleuth affirmed that socialism is a great achievement of Marxism-Leninism,adding that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the OctoberRevolution of Russia and the birth of the first socialist country.

Though theSoviet Union and socialist countries in Eastern Europe collapsed, other socialistnations are still consistent with socialist ideals and goals and furtherprosper, proved by achievements in reform and socialism building in China,Vietnam and Laos, he said.

He urgedsocialist nations to strengthen solidarity amid complicated developments in theworld in order to continue reaping successes in socialism building.

VicePresident of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences Pham Van Duc suggesteddeveloping and flexibly applying new concepts and basic principles ofMarxism-Leninism in countries in each stage.

During thetwo-day event, delegates will attend four sessions on the role ofMarxism-Leninism in building the people’s democratic States, Marxism-Leninism’sleadership role in developing political system and uniting solidarity, Marxism-Leninismtheory in developing socialist-oriented economy in each nation.

They willalso hear 19 reports to be delivered by delegates from Vietnam, China andLaos.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
