Vietnam attends International Inter-Party Forum SCO+

Hanoi (VNA) – Hoang Binh Quan, Head of theCommunist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for ExternalRelations, attended the online International Inter-Party Forum SCO+ (ShanghaiCooperation Organisation) on October 22-23.

Themed “Economy for People”, the event drew heads ofState, leaders of ruling Parties and ministries, and businesspeople andscholars from 40 countries and organisations in Asia, Europe, Africa, and LatinAmerica.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Quan highlightedVietnam’s consistent policy of placing the people in the centre of every developmentpolicy and strategy. The country therefore posted positive results infulfilling the duel goals of combating COVID-19 and sustaining economicdevelopment.

It was the result of joint efforts by the entirepolitical system and people from all walks of life, reflecting public trust in theParty and the State as well as the close bonds between the Party, the State, theGovernment, and the people, he said.

He suggested countries and political parties payattention to medical security and coordinate at the regional and global levelto effectively cope with pandemics, especially COVID-19.

The official called for enhancing cooperation andpreventing discrimination, ensuring public access to COVID-19 vaccine, and upholdingthe role of multilateral mechanisms in stepping up anti-pandemic efforts.

Discussions at the event focused on digitaltransformation for the benefit of the people, support for the green economy viaParty channels, the role of political parties in the fight against the socio-economictoll from COVID-19 and dangerous communicable diseases, and inter-regional socio-economiccooperation among SCO countries.

Participants stressed the need for sustainable, constructive, and comprehensivecooperation between political parties and governments./.
