Vietnam Airlines to serve passengers Hung Yen longans

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will work with the northern province of Hung Yen to supply the locality’s specialty product – Hung Yen longan – in its flights under an agreement recently reached between the two sides.

Hanoi (VNA) – The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines willwork with the northern province of Hung Yen to supply the locality’s specialtyproduct – Hung Yen longan – in its flights under an agreement recently reachedbetween the two sides.

Hung Yen fresh longan fruit will be served to business-class passengers on VietnamAirlines’  70 domestic and internationalflights departing from Hanoi and HCM City to destinations in Asia, Australiaand Europe.

Hung Yen province is a large longan farming hubin northern Vietnam with more than 3,800ha of longan at harvest time. Hung Yenlongan is known for its thick pulp and sweet taste.

Longan served on Vietnam Airlines’ flights iscultivated in line with Good Agriculture Practice (VietGAP).

This dessert fruit, which undergoseveral food safety tests, will be available on flights for one month, fromAugust 15 to September 15.

Le Hong Ha, Vietnam Airlines Deputy General Director,said as the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines has promoted the“Vietnamese use Vietnamese goods” campaign, prioritising Vietnamese goods.

Apart from improving service quality anddiversifying the food experience, Ha said serving longan on flights wouldpromote Vietnamese agricultural products to the world, helping solve marketing problemsfor farmers.

In June, Vietnam Airlines also included freshlitchi of Bac Giang province in the meal service for business class and specialeconomy class on flights departing from Hanoi. 

Hung Yen province is expected to harvest morethan 41,000 tonnes of longan this year.-VNA
