Vietnam aims to control female reproductive cancers

Hanoi (VNA)🔯 – The health sector will develop a detail roadmap for a national master plan for controlling and preventing reproductive cancers in women, which are likely to rise fast in the country.
According to Luu Thi Hong, Director of the Maternal and Child Health Department under the Ministry of Health, the screening of reproductive cancers will be included in regular health check-up.
Reproductive cancers will become part of training and retraining programmes for health workers, she said.
The Ministry of Health and relevant bodies will promote communication campaigns to enhance the awareness of the reproductive cancers, particularly breast and cervical cancers among teenagers and adolescents.
The rate of women with cancers in Vietnam tends to increase fast, especially reproduction-related cancers, according to Hong.
Each year, 5,664 new cases of cervical cancer and 2,472 deaths of the disease are recorded, she said.
