Ben Tre (VNA) – Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and a workingdelegation on January 25 visited and presented gifts to social policy beneficiaries living in disadvantageouscircumstances, poor and near-poor households, and disadvantaged workers and children in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre as theLunar New Year (Tet) Festival is nearing.
Accordingly, Xuan gave 200 gifts to social policybeneficiaries, poor and near-poor households, 200 to disadvantaged workers and 200 to targeted children, with a total value of 700 million VND (28,400 USD). She also handed overthe token of 10 great unity houses totalling 500 million VND to theprovince.
On this occasion, the National Fund forVietnamese Children donated 200 million VND to the provincial Department ofLabour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
The Vice President asked the PartyCommittee, People’s Committee and people of Ben Tre to continue investing in cultural,social, medical and educational facilities, and ensuring social welfare for localpeople, especially in remote areas and former revolutionary bases.
Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ben Tre, said that as of late 2023, theprovince had recorded 21,124 poor and near-poor households, and nearly 5,000families of policy beneficiaries living in difficult circumstances.
