Flood in Vietnam's central region (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The StandingBoard of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) has sent amessage of sympathy to authorities and people affected by floods in Quang Tri,Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh provinces and Da Nang city.
The message noted that over the past days, torrential rainsand floods have caused huge human and property losses in the central localities.
The Central Steering Committee for Natural DisasterPrevention and Control reported that as of December 12, eight people were killedand two others went missing due to floods. Besides, hundreds of houses and hundredsof hectares of rice and other crops were damaged.
The VFFCC Standing Board applauded the high sense ofresponsibility and concerted efforts of all-level Party Committees, authorities,VFF’s chapters, organisations, agencies and armed forces in searching for themissing and supporting flood victims.
In the message, the VFFCC Standing Board asked the VFFcommittees of the localities to coordinate with local authorities andprovincial steering boards for natural disaster prevention and control toevaluate human and property losses caused by the floods and reported to the VFFCC.
The VFFCC Standing Board also announced a decision to send 5million VND (220 USD) in aid to each family of the bereaved and missing, and 3million VND (30 USD) to each seriously injured person.-VNA
