US-funded project for community resilience implemented in Thua Thien-Hue

The Vietnam Red Cross Society has launched an US-funded project, titled Consultancy Service for Comprehensive Model for Community Resilience in Vietnam (CMCR), in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Red Cross Society haslaunched an US-funded project, titled Consultancy Service for ComprehensiveModel for Community Resilience in Vietnam (CMCR), in the central province ofThua Thien – Hue.

With over 5.4 billion VND (232,959 USD) earmarked for itsimplementation in the province, the project is expected to support more than18,000 people in Huong Vinh commune’s Phu Thuong ward and Huong Thuy township’sThuy Chau and Thuy Phuong ward.

Funded by the United States Agency for InternationalDevelopment (USAID), the 2.4 million USD project is conducted by a consortiumof the American Red Cross (with and through Vietnam Red Cross), Catholic ReliefServices, HelpAge International, Plan International and Save the ChildrenInternational.

The implementation aims at increasing disaster resiliencethrough strengthening the Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM)structure, and leveraging resources at communities, schools and otherstakeholders involved. Key activities included training courses to boost disaster-responseskills and planning capacity, drills, and safe school construction.   

Launched in Thua Thien – Hue, and Ha Giang and Son Laprovince in North Vietnam, it runs from May through September 2023 to benefitover 57,000 people, including children, women, the elderly, and ethnic minorityresidents./.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
