Universities to open new faculties for 2018-19

New faculties will be opened at universities during the 2018-2019 academic year, according to the Ministry of Education and Training’s new catalogue on training programmes in higher education.

HCM City (VNA) - New facultieswill be opened at universities during the 2018-2019 academic year, according tothe Ministry of Education and Training’s new catalogue on training programmesin higher education.

Most of the new faculties will be in thesocial fields. In the IT field, cyber-safety will be taught first at eightuniversities, including Hanoi University of Science and Technology, MilitaryTechnical Academy, Academy of Cryptography Techniques, and Post andTelecommunications Institute of Technology.

In the health field, a nutrition facultywill be created. No new faculties will be created in veterinary medicine, artand life science.

HCM City University of Architecture willhave a new faculty of Urban Fine Arts to meet the demand for coherent developmentof landscapes and living spaces in urban areas.

Van Lang University in Ho Chi Minh Citywill enrol students in its new major of applied literature under the faculty ofPublic Relations and Communications.

The HCM City University of Technology andEducation has completed procedures to open six new faculties including graphicdesign, architecture, construction management, renewable energy, food servicesand restaurant administration, and technological education.

The university will continue itshigh-quality training programmes in English in two additional faculties.

According to the Ministry of Education andTraining, the country in the 2017-18 academic year has 235 universities andinstitutes, not including those in national defense and security.

By 2020, it is expected that nearly 2.2million students will attend university and college. In 2017-2018, enrolmentwas 1.7 million. - VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
