Union of Vietnam Students in France holds ninth Congress

The Union of Vietnam Students in France (UEVF) convened its ninth Congress for the 2021 – 2023 term in Paris on December 4, during which it announced the change its name to the Union of Vietnamese Youth and Students in France.

Paris (VNA) – The Union of Vietnam Students inFrance (UEVF) convened its ninth Congress for the 2021 – 2023 term in Paris onDecember 4, during which it announced to change its name to the Union ofVietnamese Youth and Students in France.

Founded in 2004, the UEVF gathers more than 7,000 undergraduatesand postgraduates living across France.

Speaking at the event, UEVF President for the 2019 – 2021term Nguyen Khanh Linh said despite COVID-19 lockdowns, the union has managedto host various virtual events connecting its members from not only France butalso Vietnam.

To support COVID-19 response in Vietnam, the UEVF has also cooperatedwith the Association of Vietnamese People in France to donate 10,000 doses ofvaccines for their homeland and raise fund for frontline medical workers, shesaid.

A new 29-member executive committee of the UEVF was electedduring the congress, with Nguyen Phan Bao Thuy becoming the new president forthe 2021 – 2023 term.

Hoang Manh Hien, a counsellor from the Embassy of Vietnam inFrance, highly spoke of the UEVF’s efforts to maintain operation at the time ofCOVID-19, saying he expects to the union to put forward more initiatives in thecoming time./.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
