UNFPA helps realise reproductive health care strategy

UNFPA pledges continued support to VN's population and reproductive health care national strategy.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has pledged continuedsupport to the Ministry of Health (MoH) to implement the nationalstrategy on population and reproductive health care for the 2011-2020period.

The MoH and the UNFPA held a ceremony to launch the supporting project in Hanoi on October 31.

According to Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Viet Tien, the UNFPA’sassistance will be a firm foundation for Vietnam’s efforts toaddress such issues as gender imbalance at birth, care for old people,domestic violence, safe motherhood and family planning, towardsfulfilling the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The projectwill focus on collecting data, improving the compilation,implementation and supervision of laws, policies and programmes in thefields of population, reproductive health, sexual health and genderviolence.

Acting Chief Representative of UNFPA Vietnam MandeepK. O’Brien said investment in reproductive health care and sexualhealth is part ꩵof the poverty reduction and hunger alleviation of many countries in the world, including Vietnam .


She affirmed the UNFPA’s strong commitment to help the Vietnamesegovernment in its efforts to reach the target of universal access tointegrated services for qualified reproductive and sexual health care atcommune and district levels.-VNA

Health sector calls on people to donate blood

During the peak months of July and August 2025, the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) needs at least 90,000 units of blood to supply 180 hospitals in the northern region. However, despite continuous efforts, the reserve blood is still short of 30,000 units.

Vietn🙈am looks to expand telehealth to improve access for remote communities

Over the past six months, 150 communal health stations in provinces including Ha Giang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Yen Bai, Tay Ninh, Hau Giang, Ben Tre and Ca Mau have been equipped with information technology systems. In addition, 117 key provincial healthcare workers have received training, with thousands more expected to follow.
