Hanoi (VNA) - The Hanoi People’s Committee held a ceremony on May 27 toreceive 24 automatic air monitoring stations sponsored by the Republic of Korea’sTHT Co., Ltd.

According to Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung, inrecent years, Hanoi has become the leading city in the country in building anautomatic air monitoring system, providing reliable monitoring data as well aspromptly issuing warnings and recommend measures to protect the health of thepeople.

With the 24 newly-received automatic air monitoring stations, the total numberof automatic air monitoring stations in the city is now 35, gradually meetingthe air quality monitoring needs of the people, and improving the efficiency ofState management and developing policies on protecting air quality.

At the ceremony, Hanoi authorities also assigned the Department of NaturalResources and Environment to put the 24 stations into operation and connectthem to the city’s monitoring system.

At the same time, it was also proposed to strengthen the implementation offorecasting and warning technologies to help protect people’s health./.
