Tuyen Quang: 5,000 needy ethnic households offered land

The northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang will allocate about 31.8 billion VND (1.46 million USD) to provide over 5,000 needy ethnic minority households with residential and production land.

The plan will benefit impoverished ethnic minority people who lackland for farming and housing, particularly those dislocated by theconstruction of the Tuyen Quang hydropower plants.

Each poor household will be granted 400sq.m of land and an additional 450sq.m of farming land.

As part of the plan, more than 24,450 hectares of land from localagricultural and forestry companies are to be reclaimed while vocationaltraining courses will help the resettled households make newlivelihoods and settle down in their new living areas.

Tuyen Quang is home to 5,092 disadvantaged ethnic minorityhouseholds, including 831 lacking adequate land for housing and theremaining are short on farm land.-VNA
