Hanoi (VNA) – The Trinh Cong Son pedestrians’ space in Hanoi’s Tay Ho district will offer free wireless internet (wifi) services in the coming time like other tourist destinations of the city, said the 🅰district’s official.

Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tay Ho district Nguyen Dinh Khuyen said the district is working with the military telecom group Viettel to set up a free wifi system for the pedestrians’ space, which is projected to complete in this year’s third quarter. Furthermore, local authorities have worked to set up additional lighting system in the area, as well as enhance vehicle management, security, environmental sanitation and food safety. One month after its launch, the walking street has drawn a large number of people on weekends, with an average of 5,000-6,000 visitors per week.  Tran Phuc Hien from Hanoi’s Ha Dong district said the walking street offers diverse entertainment activities for locals and visitors. Art performances and sport activities are frequently held at the walking area, with the participation of artists from the Hanoi Cheo (popular theatre) and Cai luong (reformed opera) Theatres, among others. A variety of folk games are also organised such as game of squares and jumping rope, attracting many children.

The street, named after Trinh Cong Son (1939-2001), one of the greatest songwriters of modern Vietnam, is designed to be a venue of arts and street food performance. Its opening was postponed several times for better preparations.

Along with the street, the pedestrian space also contains part of Alley 431 Au Co street and Alley 612 Lac Long Quan street.

The first pedest♉rian space of Hanoi is streets around Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter, which are popular destinations for 💃Hanoians and tourists.-VNA
