Transport ministry orders investigation into Vietjet plane’s landing in wrong runway
The Ministry of Transport has ordered an urgent investigation into the latest incident at Vietjet Air when flight VJ689 of the budget carrier landed in a wrong runway at Cam Ranh International Airport in the south central province of Khanh Hoa at noon December 25.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Transport has ordered an urgentinvestigation into the latest incident at Vietjet Air when flight VJ689 of thebudget carrier landed in a wrong runway at Cam Ranh International Airport inthe south central province of Khanh Hoa at noon December 25.
Initialreports said at around 12:02, flight VJ689 from Cam Ranh to Ho Chi Minh City wasforced to return to Cam Ranh due to a technical alarm. It then landed on arunway which has not been put into operation.
Theincident poses serious threat in terms of aviation safety, said an urgent documentissued by the ministry signed by Deputy Minister Le Dinh Tho.
Thedocument asked the Civil Aviation Authority of Vienam (CAAV) to set up an investigationteam to clarify the cause of the incident.
TheCAAV has suspended the flight crew pending investigation.
Theauthority has also decided not to allow Vietjet to increase the number offlights. At the same time, it imposes special supervision of the budget carrierat four international airports of Noi Bai (in Hanoi), Tan Son Nhat (in Ho ChiMinh City), Cam Ranh, and Da Nang (the central city of Da Nang).-VNA
