A training course themed “Becoming a Playworker” aiming to raise public awareness of importance of play for children’s development was held in Hanoi on April 2 as part of activities in the Play Campaign 2019.

Hanoi (VNA) - A training course themed “Becoming a Playworker” aiming to  raise public awareness of importance of play forchildren’s development was held in Hanoi on April 2 as part of activities in thePlay Campaign 2019.

The event was organised by the Japan Foundation Asia Centre, EcoParkCorporation and the National University of Civil Engineering.

Accordingto Quoc Dat, a founder member and communication coordinator of ThinkPlaygrounds, most traditional playgrounds have the same equipment like slides,swings and seesaws.

A creative playground model where children can build and shape their own playspaces is an “adventure playground”, he said, adding that the model helps stimulatecreativity promotes intellectual development and helps kids learn life skills.

The training course helped participants understand the important role of playworkersin adventure playgrounds and how to become a professional playworker who will bring practical experiences to children.

During the event, Japanese experts shared their experience in running adventureplaygrounds in Tokyo.

Initiated by Think Playgrounds, the campaign aims to create dialogues withcommunities on the importance of play for children’s development.

The Play Campaign in 2018 included creative play, recycle play and adventureplaygrounds with the support of the Franco-German Cultural Fund, the Goethe Institute Hanoi and the French Cultural Centre (L'Espace) in Hanoi.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
