Training course for UN staff officers opens

The Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre opened a training course for UN staff officers in Hanoi on June 5 with the support of the Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) under the US Department of State.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam PeacekeepingCentre opened a training course for UN staff officers in Hanoi on June 5 withthe support of the Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) under the USDepartment of State.

The course runs from June 4-20 with theparticipation of lecturers who are international experts from the GPOI and 30Vietnamese and international trainees. 

It provides trainees with basic knowledge aboutthe United Nations and peacekeeping activities as well as the functions, tasksand coordination mechanisms among staff agencies.

They also learn to make operational plans andstrategies and ensure communication logistics.

Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, DeputyChief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, appreciated thesupport of the GPOI in organising the course.

He asked the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre toclosely work with relevant agencies and partner countries to make the coursesuccessful.

The course creates an excellent opportunity fortrainees to share experience in the UN peacekeeping operations in amultinational environment and improve their English communication skills.

It also helps increase mutual understanding,cultural exchange and friendship among staff officers as well as developcooperation between Vietnam and other countries, including the US, in the UNpeacekeeping activities.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
