Hanoi (VNA) - Peoplein five cities and provinces will be able to pay traffic fines onlinefrom March 13, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dunghas announced.

At a conference reviewing online public services on the national public serviceportal on March 10, Dung said this was among many e-payment services on theportal which have been completed and are ready for the trial.

Major General Le Xuan Duc, deputy director of the Ministry of Public Security’sTraffic Police Department, said people in Hanoi, HCM City, Hai Phong, Da Nangand Binh Thuan can pay fines at //dichvucong.gov.vn.

Previously, traffic violators had to go to traffic police offices to getpenalty tickets and then pay their fines at treasury offices. Police willreturn their revoked driving licences or seized vehicles at police stationsafter a certain amount of time.

The new scheme simplifies matters, allowing people to pay fines online insteadof going to treasury offices.

Duc said paying only took between three and 10 minutes. People needed to entertheir personal information and the penalty ticket number to search fortheir violation record and pay fines online through their banks.

The ministry will review the trial and possibly apply the services in otherlocalities in the third quarter.

Speaking at the conference, Dung said other e-payment services such as personaltax payment, collecting registration fees for cars and motorcycles andbusiness tax declaration and payment would also start on March 13.

He asked ministries, sectors and agencies to re-examine the services to ensuretheir operation.

Dung said the integration of additional services on the national public serviceportal was important in the context of the novel coronavirus epidemic.

After three months of operation on a trial basis, as of March 9, therewere 77,226 accounts registered on the national public service portal and morethan 20.9 million visits to find information and services.

The Government’s reporting information system will be launched on March 13 toreview the three-month implementation of the portal and to integrate morepublic services.

Dung said among 20.9 million visits to the portal, the number of businessesusing it was still limited. Thus, it is necessary to boost public servicesinvolved in tax declaration and customs clearance to increase theirparticipation./.
