Traffic accidents kill 210 during eight days of Tet holidays

As many as 334 traffic accidents occurred nationwide during the first 8 days of the nine-day Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday (February 6-13), claiming 210 lives and injuring 331 others.

Hanoi (VNA)ꦇ – As many as 334 traffic accidents occurred nationwide during the first 8 days of the nine-day Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday (February 6-13), claiming 210 lives and injuring 331 others.

The number of cases and deaths respectively decreased by 32.7 percent and 27.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to the Ministry of Public Security’s Traffic Police Department, February 13 alone saw 50 traffic accidents across the country, killing 28 and injuring 56 others.
The Ministry of Transport asked the General Department of Road and departments of transport intensify inspections on the road and take strict measures to ensure traffic safety and order and reduce serious congestion in key roads leading to big cities as people began to return to work after Tet. Traffic police forces were required to work with security forces to enhance patrol and handle violation cases, especially in major highways.-VNA
