Tra fish fair kicks off in Hanoi

Hanoi(VNA) – A fair introducing products made from tra fish (pangasius) and seafood kickedoff at the Hanoi-based Agricultural Exhibition Centre on October 6. This is the first seafoodfair being held in the capital city of Hanoi, aiming to promote the consumptionof tra fish and other seafood products in the northern region and internationalmarkets, particularly China.

The two-dayfair, organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), featuresnearly 100 booths of over 40 domestic and foreign enterprises.

Within theframework of the event, there is a food court where professional cooks introduceto visitors the nutritious values of tra fish along with around 20 dishes madefrom the fish.  

Accordingto Deputy Minister of the MARD Vu Van Tam, brackish-water shrimp and tra fishare major products of Vietnam with export turnover hit more than seven billionUSD, or 67 percent of total seafood export in 2016.

Vietnamesetra fish has been shipped to 150 countries and territories nationwide,including choosy markets like the US and the Europe. Vietnam’s tra fish exportto China, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Mideast,Brazil and Mexico has also increased recently.

However,the fish is still unfamiliar to consumers in the northern region. The fairoffered a chance for seafood manufacturing and processing firms to promotetheir products and explore the northern market, stressed the deputy minister.

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
