It has provided timely official information for domestic and international media, effectively contributing to the communications work at home and abroad, and has truly lived up to its role as the strategic and reliable information centre of the Party, the State, and the People.

On September 15, 1945, the Vietnam News Agency - named by President Ho Chi Minh – aired the full text of the Declaration of Independence and the list of the members of the provisional Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in three languages – Vietnamese, English and French. The event was of great importance for not only the Vietnam News Agency but also the whole nation. September 15 later became the traditional day of the State news agency.

The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on September 14 held a ceremony to receive the Ho Chi Minh Order for the third time and celebrate its 80th founding anniversary (September 15, 1945–2025), with Party General Secretary To Lam attending. The ceremony not only honoured the agency’s pivotal role as the nation’s strategic news source but also captured memorable moments of pride and reflection, as generations of journalists, leaders, and guests gathered to look back on eight decades of dedication and contribution to the country’s information and communication mission.

💯 Cambodian TV taps VNA for reliable reporting amid digital shift

The Cambodian journalist said he prefers citing the VNA because of its role as Vietnam’s national news agency, entrusted for decades with delivering official information on the Vietnamese Party, State, and Government’s policies, guidelines and laws during wartime or peacetime.

Documentary on Vietnam News Agency premieres

The 25-minute documentary portrays the VNA as the country’s “news bank,” capturing every historic moment through news reports and photographs, and honouring nearly 260 staff, reporters, and technicians who fell protecting the uninterrupted flow of information.
