Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Nguyen ThiKim Ngan hosted a reception in Paris on April 1 for National Secretary of theFrench Communist Party (PCF) Fabien Roussel.

Ngan,who is an official visit to the European country as guest of President of the FrenchNA Richard Ferrand, conveyed greetings and congratulations of leaders of theCommunist Party of Vietnam (CPV) to Roussel on his election as NationalSecretary of the PCF at its 38th congress.

Thetwo leaders noted with pleasure the strong development of Vietnam-France relationsafter the establishment of diplomatic ties 46 years ago and the strategicpartnership five years ago.
Moreand more cooperation channels have been set up between the states, legislativebodies, the CPV and the PCF, localities and businesses of the two countries,they said.

Nganbriefed Roussel on Vietnam’s socio-economic development, with economic growth ofover 7 percent in 2018, the highest pace in the region.

Vietnamis building a socialist-oriented market economy, she said, adding that afterthree years of implementation of the five-year socio-economic plan set at the12th National Congress of the CPV in 2016, many targets have beenfulfilled.

Morethan 4 million Party members have served as the core force in realising the CPV’spolicies and guidelines, the top legislator said.

TheCPV has regularly rectified its staff and built a pure, strong Party, she said,adding NA deputies, on behalf of the people, have cast votes of confidence onhigh-ranking officials holding positions elected or approved by thelegislature.

Roussel, for his part, hailed Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements under theleadership of the CPV, while congratulating the CPV on its political successessince its inception and in leading the Vietnamese people in the past strugglefor national liberation and unification as well as in the current cause of socio-economicdevelopment.

AsVietnam has been on the right track of development, communist parties of othercountries will be inspired from its standout achievements in the past years, hesaid.

Mentioning the fierce competition, trade disputes and trade wars which havemade unemployment rate and poverty increase globally, Roussel said communistparties worldwide should further cooperation in the coming time and expectedthat the relationship between the PCF and the CPV would strongly develop.

Nganaffirmed that the CPV always attached much importance to the friendship andsolidarity with the PCF. She appraised the French party’s role andcontributions to France’s political arena and development.

TheCPV has treasured cooperation with progressive forces across the world, shesaid, stressing that Vietnam has pursued an open foreign policy of multilateralizationand diversification of international relations, and Vietnam wants to be atrustworthy friend and partner of all countries in the globe.

Shewished that the PCF will promote its role at localities, political arenas andinternational forums to support relations between France, the EU and Vietnam.

Ngantook the occasion to convey CPV General Secretary and President Nguyen PhuTrong’s invitation to Roussel to visit Vietnam at a proper time.-VNA
