Top legislator meets parliamentary leaders of Singapore, Azerbaijan, Belarus

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Chairman VuongDinh Hue on November 21 met Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament TanChuan-jin, Speaker of the Azerbaijani National Assembly Sahiba Gafarova, andDeputy Chairman of the Representatives Chambers of the Belarusian NA Valeriy VatslavovichMitskevich in Phnom Penh.
In his meeting with TanChuan-jin, Hue affirmed that Vietnam treasures and wishes to furtherdevelop its strategic partnership with Singapore.
The two countries’ resumption of high-level delegationexchanges after the COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to creating newmotivation for bilateral cooperation and post-pandemic socio-economic recovery,he added.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of theestablishment of bilateral diplomatic ties and the 10th anniversaryof the strategic partnership, the two sides agreed to maintain the exchange ofhigh-ranking and all-level delegations in all channels, organise parliamentarycooperation activities, and expand collaboration in digital and green economy.

Receiving Sahiba Gafarova, Hue expressed his hopethat they will have more meetings and contacts bilaterally andon the sidelines of regional and international inter-parliamentary forums,given that this is the first-ever meeting of the top leaders of thetwo countries’ NAs.
Vietnam always attaches importance to its relations withtraditional friends, including Azerbaijan, and appreciates the country’s greatand precious support for Vietnam’s past struggle for national independence aswell as its present nation building and development cause.
There remains an ample room for bilateral cooperation invarious fields, Hue stated, appreciating the two sides’ coordination andsupport at multilateral parliamentary cooperation mechanisms such as the Inter-ParliamentaryUnion (IPU) and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
He expressed his hope to boost cooperation between the twoNAs to make it one of the important pillars in the bilateral relations.
Sahiba Gafarova said she is delighted to meet her Vietnamesecounterpart in the context of the 30th anniversary of theestablishment of bilateral diplomatic ties, considering it a chance to discussmeasures to strengthen the traditional friendship.

During Hue’s meeting with Valeriy Vatslavovich Mitskevich,he affirmed Vietnam always treasures its relations with traditional friends,including Belarus.
To deepen the bilateral cooperation, the two sides agreed tointensify cooperation in economics, trade, investment, tourism andpeople-to-people exchanges; and consider parliamentary collaboration animportant channel in the Vietnam-Belarus relations.
