Thua Thien-Hue inaugurates 35MW solar power plant

– The Phong Diensolar power plant, with a capacity of 35 MW, was put into operation in thecentral province of Thua Thien-Hue on October 5.

Invested in by the Gia Lai Electricity JSC, thefactory covers 45ha in the My Hoa hamlet of Dien Loc commune, Phong Diendistrict. The factory began construction in January this year and was built ata total cost of nearly 1 trillion VND (42.83 million USD).

It will produce about 60 million kWh ofelectricity each year and is expected to greatly contribute to localsocio-economic development.

The factory’s electricity output will power the yearlyconsumption of around 32,630 households in Vietnam, and it is hoping to reducesome 20,503 tonnes in CO2 emissions each year, according to Thanh Thanh CongGroup – owner of the Gia Lai company.

The Phong Dien solar power plant is set toexpand its capacity by another 29.5 MW in 2019.

Aside from the factory, the Gia Lai companyplans to open the Krong Pa solar power plant in the Central Highlands provinceof Gia Lai in the upcoming fourth quarter. The project was invested with over1.4 trillion VND (59.96 million USD) and has a capacity of 49 MW. –VNA
