Three packages to help businesses with digital transformation

Three aid packages will be carried out in 2022 to help promote digital transformation in Vietnamese enterprises, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).

Hanoi (VNA) –Three aid packages will be carried out in 2022 to help promote digitaltransformation in Vietnamese enterprises, according to the Ministry of Planningand Investment (MPI).

The support is part of aprogramme assisting businesses in digital transformation in the 2021 - 2025 period.This programme, approved by the Minister of Planning and Investment on January 7 this year, aims tohelp boost digital transformation in businesses through the application ofdigital technology, thus improving their efficiency, capacity, andcompetitiveness and creating new values for them.

Of the three packages to belaunched, the first is designed for small-scaled firms, helping them embark on digitaltransformation. Each enterprise will be provided with 20 million - 50 millionVND (870 - 2,180 USD) funded by the State budget per year.

The second one will assistmedium-sized ones with a maximum of 100 million VND per year. Meanwhile, the third targets exporters and will cover a maximumof 50 percent of the costs to open and maintain their accounts on transnationale-commerce platforms.

Bui Thu Thuy, Deputy Directorof the MPI’s Enterprise Development Agency, said businesses are still facingmany barriers and difficulties in digital transformation such as highinvestment expenses, underdeveloped IT infrastructure, cybersecurity risks, andlimited human resources.

However, she noted,Vietnamese enterprises are holding numerous opportunities to boost digitaltransformation, which will help them grasp chances relevant to changes inconsumption behaviour, the shift in global supply chains, and the surge inonline transactions as a result of the pandemic’s impact./.
