The ceremony at the Dong Tam Martyrs’ Cemeteryin Ba Thuoc district was also attended by representatives of the Lao provinceof Houaphanh, the Vietnamese Government, Military Region 4, the Ministry ofDefence, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, and localresidents.
In his speech, Vice Chairman of the Thanh HoaPeople’s Committee Pham Dang Quyen expressed his gratitude to the heroicmartyrs, who laid down their lives during national liberation wars andinternational missions in Laos.
He also thanked authorities, armed forces andpeople of Laos, especially those in Houaphanh province, for their wholeheartedsupport to the repatriation of martyr remains.-VNA
A ceremony was held at a martyr cemetery in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai on May 14 to rebury the remains of 30 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in the Cambodia.
The Mekong Delta province of Long An on July 27 held a ceremony to repatriate the remains of 20 Vietnamese voluntary soldiers who laid down their lives in Cambodia at different periods.
Search teams from Military Zone 7 and Military Command of southwestern Tay Ninh province set off for Cambodia on November 1 to continue looking for remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers.
Remains of 16 Vietnamese voluntary soldiers who laid down their lives in Laos during the war were repatriated to the northern border province of Dien Bien on January 11.
